What I Can Offer

If you are a teacher, I hope you are interested in turning your own classroom into what I have called a Learning and Growth Community. If you are a school leader, then I hope you are interested in helping your staff to do the same in their classrooms and perhaps to make your whole school feel like one too, so that it might benefit all of the children and teachers in your school. There are two ways that I may be able to help you in this process.

1. Training: An introduction to Learning and Growth Communities.

I have devised a two hour INSET course for up to 20 teachers and/or school leaders. This course will cover:

  • The case for change and the main features of Learning and Growth Communities.
  • First practical steps toward creating Learning and Growth Communities for teachers and school leaders.

I would like to identify an initial group of interested schools for whom I could run this introductory course . I would like to run this course in separate school groups and I would like to gain some feedback a few months after the course on how these ideas are working out. I am happy to consider offering this course face to face or using the online video platform Zoom. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me, using my email address, below. Please say a little about your current context and the reason(s) that this approach is of interest to you at this time.

2. Books and publications.

I intend to publish a book for primary practitioners on Learning and Growth Communities in school year 2026-27. Watch out for more news about it, in due course, on this website.

If you are interested in my previous book, Talk, Learning and Philosophy in the Primary Classroom, one place you can find it is here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thinking-Philosophy-Classroom-Achieving-Cross-Curricular/dp/1844452972
